Korean Green Onion Salad (Pa Muchim 파채무침) Recipe

Make some delicious Korean Green Onion Salad (Pa Muchim 파채무침) Recipe! It’s a popular Korean BBQ side dish! Scallion salad, called Pa Muchim, is so simple to make but adds a lot of flavor to whatever it’s served with.

It requires only seven ingredients and a few minutes to prepare, and it’s great to put together yourself at home.

Be sure not to skip the step of soaking the scallions in cold water. It cleans them, but it also perks them up and removes some of their pungency.

If you have to cut it yourself, it’s not that hard with a regular knife.

It doesn’t have to be cut perfectly uniform. Once soaked in cold water to remove a bit of pungency and slimy substance, the scallions become perky and nicely curly.

This is a green onion salad commonly paired with Korean BBQ or a hearty meat dish. It’s a simple yet delicious small-batch recipe designed for 1 or 2 people.

Flavor Profile:

The salad features green onion strings with a flavorful combination of garlic, sesame, and Korean red pepper flakes.

Making it is a breeze—just mix all the ingredients.

It’s super simple!

Ideal Pairings:

This salad is a perfect accompaniment to pork belly dinners or Korean BBQ. Recently, we enjoyed it alongside soy-braised pork, creating a delicious duo.

We use large green onion stalks, approximately 3 feet tall, and string the onions ourselves. You can also opt to purchase pre-strung green onions at Korean markets. Additionally, here is a video of my Mom cutting the green onions into strings.
